Normandy Landings on D-Day
D-Day arked the start of the Allied invasion of Normandy where 130,000 Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy to liberate Nazi-occupied Europe. American forces landed at Utah and Omaha beaches, and British and Canadian forces landed at Gold, Juno, and Sword beaches.

V2 Flying Bombs
The V-2 rocket, developed by the Germans was the world’s first large-scale liquid-propellant rocket and precursor to modern rockets and missiles. The first attacks on Britain came on 8 September and lasted for 6 months. In total more than 9,000 rockets were launched with nearly half being destroyed before impact: over 2,500 Londoners were killed in the following six months.
