Henry was born in East Worlington in 1889. The son of Lewis and Eliza Edworthy.

Lewis Edworthy was born in East Worlington and worked as an agricultural labourer. In 1911 the family lived at St Martins cottage in Crediton. At that time Henry worked as a waggoner coal hauler (coal merchant) and was unmarried.
Henry enlisted in Teignmouth and served until 22nd March 1918 when he was killed.
He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial and his name is carved on Panel 6. This memorial commemorates almost 35,000 servicemen from the United Kingdom, South Africa and New Sealand who died in the Arras Sector between the Spring of 1916 and the 7th August 1918 and have no known grave. Henry Edworthy was on one of the missing.
In the 1911 Census there is a record of an Elizabeth Edworthy who was a widow and a seamstress who lived with her son Douglas Albert Edworthy. He was 14 and worked as an agricultural labourer. They lived in a three roomed cottage in West Worlington. There may be a connection with Eliza and Lewis but this is not known.
