William was born at Hensley Cottage in 1902. He was born into a Worlington family and his younger brother is recorded on the 1939 Census to be living at Hensley Cottage with his family.
William joined the Marines in 1920 and died when his ship, The HMS Southampton, was attacked by Stuka bombers in the Mediterranean Sea. He was lost at sea but his name is recorded the Plymouth Naval Memorial.
