The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a tree planting initiative to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 and which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee.” Visit our Jubilee Events page for more information. In the Worlingtons, we are encouraging everyone from individuals, community groups and the school to play their part in the celebrations by planting trees from now until end of March if bare rooted, or otherwise potted through to the end of the Jubilee celebrations in 2022. This is a great occasion for us to come together as a community to reduce our impact on climate change, protect and enhance the environment in our village for generations to come. How to get involved Individuals: We are asking you to plant a tree of your choice however big or small on your own land and then pin your trees location on the Queens Green Canopy Map by going to the website https://queensgreencanopy.org On the above website is lots of helpful and useful information and tips on tree planting as well. We also would ask you to take a photo, so we can collate them for a collage later in the year. Check out the trees we have planted on our Jubilee Trees page. Lou Mastroddi is also willing to make some simple plaques out of slate on a small stake which can be written on with a permanent marker, if you would like to highlight it in your garden. Email: amanda_mastroddi@yahoo.co.uk As a community: We will be planting a tree on behalf of the village, the location is yet to be decided. For the commemoration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Look forward to seeing the pictures and pins in the map. |
