We wondered if it could ever happen. Would the rules change again? Would we be rained off? Would we dare venture into the real world once more? In the event those two wonderful reunions – first the fete and then the community celebration – both came off in true Worlington style. And once again we need to thank Campie and Barnabas for leading the way, making it all happen and allowing us all to enjoy their beautiful garden. As churchwardens, we just wanted to express our own gratitude on behalf of the PCC for Campie’s special energy in making this year’s fete not just a fantastic community get-together, but a brilliant fundraiser for our two churches. In spite of all the hurdles, this year’s event looks as though it will exceed the tally of the last fete in 2019. It will make a vital contribution to our work in keeping the churches open, active and in the best repair. And we also wanted to thank the many friends and supporters who made cakes, distributed teas, manned the stalls, donated prizes, shifted chairs, organized races, orchestrated the Worly Bargains and counted the money. Worlington is back! With many thanks from Ray, Patrick, Charles and all the PCC members. |
